What's New

2019 New Year Greetings

New Year Greetings 2019:
Another year is going to be in the history. At the junction of the new year, while remembering this years’s activities, I found this to be a real hectic year.

I had several overseas trips for research, conferences, projects and two for personal reasons. This is my second year in Keio University. Gradually, number of students is increasing, and enjoying good time with them. This year, we could finish one book on urban drought, which will be published next year. We are working on two other books, which will hopefully publish next year too. I put some time this year for starting a new journal by Elsevier. The journal titled “Progress in Disaster Science” has launched this December, and staring accepting papers: https://www.journals.elsevier.com/progress-in-disaster-scie…. Hope, you will consider this journal for your submission.

The work of STAG (Science Technology Advisory Group), IRDR (Integrated Research for Disaster Risk) Science Committee has kept myself busy, but this work is always satisfying when I see some specific impacts on the ground. I thank all my colleagues for their continued collaboration and contribution. The IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) CLA (Coordinating Lead Author) work will start from January next year, but some initial preparation has started. We also started a small research based start-up in India named RIKA (Resilience Innovation Knowledge Academy: http://www.rikaindia.com). So, hopefully 2019 would be a busy year. I will keep on updating most of my professional work through my website: https://rajibshaw.org as well as social media (https://www.facebook.com/Rajib-Shaw-327749957992952/ ).

I sincerely hope that the new year will bring new light, hope, happiness and good health to all of you.
