Actively involved with students and young researchers in Japan and abroad in implementing action research projects, in partnership with United Nations, development agencies (like World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Japan International Cooperation Agency etc.), country governments, local governments, non government organization, research institutions, universities and private sectors.
Publications
Cutting edge publications on wider aspects of disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and environmental management in terms of books, edited volumes, peer reviewed journal papers and reports. Series editor of disaster related book series from Springer and Emerald publications. Chief editor of Progress in Disaster Science, published by Elsevier, and editorial board members of several other journals.
Policy Advocacy
Engaged in policy advocacy projects and programs with national governments, UN agencies and local governments. Conducted specific policy advocacy projects, and wrote several policy notes related to different aspects of disaster risk reduction and post disaster recovery.
